Surprise Visit from My Parents!

I got a phone call at 11:00 Wednesday night from my mom. I had just fallen asleep and ignored it b/c I assumed she was just calling me back from earlier. Then I got a call from my dad and thought to myself, "O crap, who died?" Why was my dad trying to call me so late. And 11:00 at my house is late by the way!
I answered and to my surprise my mom says, "Hey, you want some company? We are at the airport." I couldn't believe it. I had no idea!! Totally surprised! I hopped out of bed and cleaned my house the best I could in about 20 minutes. They are staying until Tuesday morning. Yeah!

Ok, so first on the list is I took them to one of my favorite parks!
Ft. Christmas, FL
It's a historical park with a replica of Ft. Christmas which was set up during the Indian War.
They also have a one room school house
And replicas of well known farmer's homes from the 1800's to 1950's
Picking an orange off an orange tree
Florida has amazing trees. We lived in FL when I was a kid and my mom said I used to call the moss on the trees spaghetti noodles.
Climbing trees
Following Papa
Had to stop and do a little art work in the dirt.

This park also has a great playground
Never too old to swing!
My parents rented a van so we could all ride together everywhere!
Never wanted to be a mom with  a mini van but they are seriously nice!

After the Park we went to Pirates Dinner Adventure in Orlando. We sadly do not have pics from here but it was a lot of fun! The kids loved it, great show and good food!

Saturday we spent the day at Sea World!

We had a lot of fun. There is lots to see and do there. We now have season passes and will be going lots!
We of course had to see Shamu!
All the boys sat in the "soak zone"
Mom and I played it safe behind them.
Pretty amazing!
Just a few days after we were here one of the trainers were killed by one of the killer whales.
It's so sad. The whale pulled the trainer in the water by her pony tail and thrashed her around and then held her under the water. So awful!
I have mixed emotions about this. I think it's ok to take some animals in captivity b/c this is how we learn about them BUT there comes a time when the animal has had enough. I think they should let the whale go in the wild. He may or may not survive but at least another person wont die from him. Sea World just announced yesterday that they are going to keep the whale but no one is allowed in the tank with him. Well, no one was allowed in the tank with this specific whale anyway. The trainer was on the side when it happened. They are going on with the shows at Sea World but no trainer is allowed in the water for awhile.

Nana bought Zander a shamu and Truston picked out a Dolphin. Z carries his everywhere and T sleeps with his dolphin.
Sea World has a great Kiddie area with rides, playplace, and splash park.

You can't see him but Z is sitting next to his papa on the kiddie shamu rollercoaster.
Dolphin show
This is a floor with an aquarium you can see through.
Sea Lion Show
It was a long day but the kids were great and enjoyed it all!

Our town
On Sunday afternoon we showed my parents around Winter Park. We took them to Park Avenue and Central Park (not NY but FL)
It's a super cute Avenue with brick streets, Bistros, coffee shops, and specialty shops.
It's the place to be on the weekends with the farmers market!
Barnies Coffee

Truston is my slide partner. He is not a fan of the slide by himself but loves for me to slide with him.
This is another fave park of ours. Zander calls it the stick park b/c it's made of wood and one day he got a splinter from here and Oh my gosh! This kid is dramatic!

Then we took a small road trip to Sanford, FL to show my parents where my brother used to live. It's a real cute old town on a lake.
Matt looks like he's about to push me in the water! If I go, we're all going down!
Being retarded!

We had a great time being "tourist" for the weekend. On Monday we went to Cocoa Beach but have no pics b/c I am scared to death of getting sand in my camera and ruining it. I will brave up and be extra careful someday but not yet.
Love ya, Momma and Daddy thanks for coming to see us!

My Florida Valentines

I had such a lovely Valentines Day this year! Most years, valentines day tends to get unnoticed in my house. Matt was on this "it's a stupid world trend" kick for a few years  but thankfully this year he realized that his wife enjoys Valentines Day!!! About stinkin time!  We don't get to go on dates often and why not celebrate our love on Valentines day and give each other cards and gifts and go do something fun?
So we did!

We went to Congo River miniature golf in Orlando.
It was so much fun. Just me and Matt!

Just a fun, friendly game of miniature golf.
And yes I kicked his butt! Ok, well it was only by 3 points but I still WON!

Most importantly, we spent some quality time laughing, holding hands, and playing together.

Only Florida has live gators at their golf courses! : )

We are so blessed to have met our upstairs neighbors. They are a young couple and she just loves my kids and enjoys babysitting for us for FREE! My kids love her too. So, thanks to her we were able to go to lunch and go play without the kiddos this Valentines!

T and Z made Valentine cards for their friends back in OK and family. We made special V-day scrapbook for Nana and Papa this year. Here are some of the pics we put in it...

Look on the tree!

Showing off bellies!

Matt is trying to show me how to use Adobe Photoshop!

I told them to blow kisses to each other so they started blowing in each other's faces!
That works.

In action!

My Sweet Valentines!

When we got home from our V-day date I had another date with Zander in the kitchen that involved sugar cookies!

Cooking Tip:  If you don't want the mess and time that sugar cookies take to make then buy Betty Crocker's Sugar Cookie mix and cookie icing! It's yummy and easy!

He put his apron on and is ready to be a big helper!

Truston wanted in on some of the action.

But he's just not good in the kitchen yet.

It's a lot like having a bull in a china cabinet or a dinosaur in the kitchen or a Rhino in the bathroom!
It just doesn't work.

Matt found him a distraction... candy

and a place where he could watch and NOT TOUCH.

Zander amazes me with his patience to stay on a project until it is done.
He cut all the cookies all by himself!

almost ready to go in the oven...

Betty Crocker ready made icing for cookies!
I usually make my own but it's more mess and more time!

Ready to go in the oven!

Done and ready to decorate...

Time to make them so pretty...

Beautiful and Yumm-O!

Good job, Z! I had fun with you.
Happy Valentines Day!
